U.S. SENATE CONFIRMS KASH PATEL AS FBI CHIEF – Patel was confirmed by a 51-49 vote
The U.S. Senate confirmed President Donald Trump’s nominee Kash Patel, to be director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the country’s top law enforcement agency.
Patel was confirmed by a 51-49 vote. However, two Republicans, Senators Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska joined the opposition in an ultimately futile attempt to prevent the confirmation.
Patel, a law degree holder from Pace University who worked as a federal prosecutor, now replaces Christopher Wray to head the 38,000-strong Federal Bureau of Investigation.
