RYBAKINA, MUCHOVA AND TAUSON ALL THROUGH TO DUBAI SEMIS – Sixth seed Elena Rybakina had a 6-2 7-6(2) victory over Sofia Kenin

Sixth seed Elena Rybakina booked her spot in the semi-finals of the Dubai Championships, firing off 17 aces to register a 6-2 7-6(2) victory over Sofia Kenin.

The former Wimbledon champion is the highest-ranked player left in the draw following the surprise exits of world number one Aryna Sabalenka and five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek.

Rybakina is looking to reach the final in Dubai for the first time since 2020 when she lost to Simona Halep, but her immediate focus is a showdown with Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva.

The 17-year-old earlier on Thursday defeated Swiatek for the first time in her career with a dominant 6-3 6-3 victory.  The other semi-final will be played between 14th seed Karolina Muchova and Clara Tauson, who knocked out Sabalenka in the last 16.
