TULSI GABBARD ADVANCES WITH U.S SENATE VOTE-Gabbard advances with 52-46 votes

The U.S. Senate voted on Monday (February 10) to advance the nomination of  Tulsi Gabbard to be director of national intelligence.

The Senate voted in favour of Gabbard 52-46 on a procedural measure to limit debate on the closely watched nomination, more than the simple majority needed to clear the way for the 100-member chamber to vote on her confirmation later this week.

The Senate Intelligence Committee last week recommended Gabbard’s nomination for consideration by the full Senate by a narrow 9-8 vote.

Urging support for her nomination, Republican Senate Majority Leader John Thune has stated that he looks forward to confirming Ms. Gabbard this week.

However Democratic Senator Adam Schiff who expressed his disapproval against her nomination in a speech after the procedural vote, stated that Gabbard is a walking five-alarm fire.

The 100-member Senate is expected to vote on her confirmation very early on Wednesday morning.
