LLOYDS, HALIFAX, AND BANK OF SCOTLAND TO MERGE BRANCH SERVICES – The aim is to offer greater convenience and flexibility

Lloyds, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland customers will soon have access to services at any branch across the three brands, offering greater convenience and flexibility, according to Lloyds Banking Group.

While the group has not specified when this change will take effect, concerns have been raised that it may lead to further branch closures, following a trend in recent years as more customers move to online banking.

Lloyds Banking Group, the UK’s largest lender, has already closed dozens of branches and reduced staff since its major overhaul began in February 2022.

The new arrangement will allow customers to use any branch for in-person banking alongside digital services like mobile apps, messaging, and telephone support. While this may improve access for some, 55 additional branch closures are still planned for 2024.

Once these closures are completed, the group will operate 892 branches: 447 under Lloyds, 341 under Halifax, and 104 under Bank of Scotland.
