WORLD LEADERS GATHER FOR COP28 FAMILY PHOTO King Charles gives opening address

Heads of state attending COP28 gathered for a family photo today for the first day of the leaders summit.

They are poised to address the U.N. climate conference, with many expected to speak about the hardship of climate impacts unfolding in their countries.

Heads of state and government participating in this year’s COP28 arrived at the summit’s venue on Friday for the first day of the leaders summit, where they were greeted by U.N Secretary General, Antonio Guterres and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed.

A key task for the summit will be the global stocktake, an assessment of countries’ progress in meeting the Paris Agreement goal of limiting global warming to well below 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit).

The climate forum formally started on Thursday, November 30th and saw delegates adopting a new fund to help poor nations cope with costly climate disasters.
