KING CHARLES’ WINDSOR CASTLE GETS SET FOR CHRISTMAS – Deck The Halls! It’s that time of year again.
Fairy lights, baubles and tinsel met suits of armour and medieval halls at Britain’s Windsor Castle as the royal residence unveiled this year’s Christmas decorations.
The castle, just outside London, put on a glimmering display with the main Christmas tree decked in some 3,000 lights and hundreds of decorations. The vast tree, taken from the nearby Home Park, is living and will be replanted after the holiday season, according to Royal Collection Trust curator Kathryn Jones.
This year also saw a miniature tree added to the century-old Queen Mary’s Doll House. Adorned with mini decorations including glass beads reused from vintage necklaces as well as tiny candles made with real wax, the tree is designed to resemble those popular in the 1920s. Built for Mary of Teck, Queen Consort to King George V, the dolls house is the “largest and most famous dolls’ house in the world,” according to the Royal Collection.
