UK HOUSE PRICES INCREASED IN 2024 – Nationwide says UK house prices ended 2024 some 4.7% higher than at the start of the year
UK house prices ended 2024 on a strong note, rising 4.7% compared to December 2023, according to Nationwide’s December house price index.
Despite the increase, prices remained slightly below the summer 2022 peak.
Month-on-month, house prices grew by 0.7% in December, following a 1.2% rise in November. Nationwide’s 4th quarter data revealed price increases across all UK regions in 2024.
Northern Ireland led the way for the second consecutive year, with a 7.1% annual rise. Scotland saw a 4.4% increase, while Wales recorded a 2.7% uptick.
In England, prices rose by 3.1%, with Northern England outperforming Southern England. Northern regions, including the North, North West, and Midlands, saw a 4.9% annual increase, with the North leading at 5.9%.
Southern regions experienced a more modest 2.2% rise, with the South West performing best at 2.7%. East Anglia was the weakest UK region, with a 0.5% increase.
