“It is better to trust in the Lord than put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.” ( Psalm 118:8-9)

The best thing in life isn’t the glitz and glamour of having cool stuff but the confident assurance that comes from intimately knowing God. People generally get excited when they receive the good things of life and become sad if they lose them. But Apostle Paul made a profound statement in Philippians 4: 11-12 where he said: “…I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want”(NIV)

Paul had learnt to live beyond the circumstances of his life. He had learnt to trust the Lord for everything. God doesn’t want to have confidence in your material possessions or physical status. Life is beyond that! Jesus said “…a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions” (Luke 12: 15 NIV). You might be blessed with material possessions and still not know God. Let your confidence always be in God. He cares for you!

Realise God is the One Who blesses you with all good things of life. Remember, His Word says “Whatever is good and perfect comes to us from God above, who created all heaven’s lights. Unlike them, he never changes or casts shifting shadows” (James 1: 17 NLT). So keep Him as the object of your deepest affection and be confident in His love for you.
