PAGERS USED IN LEBANON BLASTS WERE NOT FROM TAIWAN – Taiwan’s  government are making their investigations

Components used in thousands of pagers that detonated in Lebanon earlier this week were not made in Taiwan, Taiwan’s economy minister said.

Taiwan-based Gold Apollo said this week it did not manufacture the devices used in the attack, and that they were made by a Budapest-based company BAC which has a licence to use its brand.

Taiwan’s government has said it is investigating what happened and police have made several visits to the company. The president and founder of the Taiwanese company and his local contact for the deal with Hungary-based firm BAC were questioned by prosecutors late into the night on Thursday. Both were released.

At least nine people were killed and nearly 3,000 wounded when pagers used by Hezbollah members detonated simultaneously across Lebanon on Tuesday.
