MICHEÁL MARTIN IS CONFIRMED AS NEW IRISH PRIME MINISTER-Martin won with 95 votes- 76 votes.
Micheál Martin has been confirmed as the new Irish prime minister, winning with 95 votes against 75 votes
Martin has stated that his government will “want to work to reform and strengthen the European Union,” and “will not flinch in support for protecting Europe’s freedom and democracy.”
The Outgoing prime minister Simon Harris, will be assuming a senior role in the new government
Martin will meet the country’s president Michael D. Higgins, after which he would return to parliament to assemble the new government.
