The Prime Minister is set to announce an additional £75 million to boost border security, bringing the investment in the Border Security Command over the next two years to £150 million.
Keir Starmer will open the Interpol General Assembly in Glasgow today by outlining his mission to smash the people smuggling gangs by resetting the UK’s whole approach to this challenge and intensifying international collaboration to meet the global scale of the threat.
The Prime minister will outline the plans in his speech to dismantle the people smuggling gangs that drive illegal migration, profit from human misery and represent a serious threat to global security.
He will also set out how the £150 million will provide additional specialist investigators and state-of-the-art surveillance equipment to ensure those behind this criminal activity are stopped and brought to justice.
