IVORY COAST & DR CONGO TRAIN ON EVE OF AFCON SEMI – The winner will face either Nigeria or South Africa

Hosts Ivory Coast and Democratic Republic of Congo completed training preparations on Tuesday (February 6) on the eve of their Africa Cup of Nations semi-final.

Ivory Coast, rebounding from a group stage 4-0 loss to Equatorial Guinea that saw coach Jean-Louis Gasset sacked, now enter their home stadium in Abidjan with renewed confidence after knockout wins over Senegal and Mali.

Congo, who drew four successive matches before their 3-1 quarter-final win over Guinea, view the semi-final as an opportunity to progress further. They won the second of their two AFCON trophies in 1974, when the country was still known as Zaire.

The winner will face either Nigeria or South Africa, who compete the other semi earlier on Wednesday, in Sunday’s final.
