FOREIGN CRIMINALS COULD FACE E-TAGS AND CURFEWS BEFORE DEPORTATION – The amendments would see stricter controls on individuals who have committed crimes

The UK government is considering new measures to electronically tag foreign criminals and impose night-time curfews while awaiting deportation.

An amendment to the Border Security, Asylum, and Immigration Bill would introduce stricter controls on individuals who have committed crimes or are considered a public threat but cannot yet be removed from the country. Under the proposal, those who violate these restrictions could face imprisonment.

A government spokesperson reaffirmed the commitment to public safety, stating: “Any foreign nationals who commit heinous crimes should be in no doubt that we will do everything to keep them off Britain’s streets, including removal at the earliest opportunity.”

Officials argue that existing laws limit their ability to impose restrictions on those who have served a prison sentence but cannot be immediately deported or individuals classified as “high harm” despite not having a criminal record.

Additionally, the Conservative Party has proposed further immigration reforms, including raising the salary threshold for work visas to £38,700 and requiring migrants to be married for at least two years before bringing their partners to the UK. The Tories assert that these measures will ensure migrants are self-sufficient and not reliant on state support.
