A motorcyclist who filmed himself driving at 189mph has been jailed.
Adam Campion was sentenced to 21 months in prison after shooting footage on his mobile phone as he rode his bike one-handed, clocking speeds of up to 189mph.
Other video recordings seized by police showed the 26-year-old driving through red lights, driving on the wrong side of the road, pulling wheelies and speeding in and out of traffic.
Campion, of Nottingham Road, Hucknall, pleaded guilty to five counts of dangerous driving, and also to assisting an offender in the retention of stolen goods.
He was caught after police recovered a laptop containing hundreds of videos and images of the dangerous use of motorcycles at his home during an investigation into a stolen motorbike.
The inquiry involved officers reviewing hours of video footage, with forensic facial recognition technology used to identify Campion, despite at times him wearing a crash helmet.
Ashfield district police commander Inspector Glenn Longden said: “The illegal and dangerous use of motorcycles is a massive issue to our communities and although this investigation was immensely complex and time consuming, the result in court has been satisfying.
“I hope this prison sentence will make those who think it is acceptable to put themselves and others in danger by driving dangerously think twice.”
Inquiries are continuing to identify other offenders seen in the videos. Anyone with any information is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101.
