Hong Kong’s leader called for ‘full cooperation’ of the people on Tuesday after four residents showed symptoms of coronavirus and were sent to a hospital from a residential building in Hong Kong, where a man and woman confirmed with coronavirus lived.
Early Tuesday morning, authorities evacuated more than 100 residents in 35 households after two people from the building were confirmed with the coronavirus. The government said it was investigating drainage pipes in the building of the Tsing Yi district in the New Territories amid worries the virus could have spread through the system.
Hong Kong chief executive Carrie Lam appealed to residents to cooperate and show responsibility as the city goes on high alert to contain an outbreak.
There are now 42 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Hong Kong which has killed more than 1,000 people globally, with most in mainland China.
