The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released new photographs of Prince Louis during his first days at home.

The photographs – including one of the newborn being cuddled by his sister – were taken by Kate Middleton.

In one picture, taken three days after he was born, the young prince is seen propped up on a white frilly cushion on a seat and is dressed all in white.

The baby, born on 23 April and fifth in line to the throne, is seen looking away from the camera.

In the second photo, taken a few days later on Princess Charlotte’s third birthday, the youngest royal is seen receiving a kiss on the forehead from his sister as he rests in her arms.

Charlotte was last seen visiting the hospital with her older brother George and father William, and turned to wave at the crowds and photographers as she held her father’s hand.

Four-year-old Prince George does not appear in the latest photographs.

Kensington Palace said the duke and duchess were “very pleased” to share the photographs.

“Their Royal Highnesses would like to thank members of the public for all of the kind messages they have received following the birth of Prince Louis, and for Princess Charlotte’s third birthday,” a spokesperson added.

The duchess’s eye for photography was recognised last year after the Royal Photographic Society gave her a lifetime honorary membership for her “talent and enthusiasm”.

The 36-year-old, a history of art graduate, bucked tradition in 2015 when she took the official photos of Charlotte when she was born.

In those pictures, the princess is seen being cradled by her older brother at Anmer Hall – their home in Norfolk.
