British Prime Minister Theresa May met with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris to update him on discussions with the opposition Labour Party aimed at finding a way out the Brexit impasse, her office said.

Meeting Macron ahead of an emergency EU summit on a Brexit delay slated in Brussels on Wednesday, May discussed “the ongoing talks with the Opposition to agree on a way forward that respects the result of the 2016 referendum,” a spokesman said.

The 27-member bloc will grant Britain another delay to Brexit on certain conditions, including that it hold European Parliament elections, according to draft conclusions of the bloc’s national leaders, who are due to decide on the matter on Wednesday.
