Measures aimed at boosting workers’ income and increasing housebuilding are expected in Chancellor Philip Hammond’s Autumn Statement on Wednesday. The first major economic statement since the Brexit vote will also unveil forecasts which are expected to show higher borrowing and slower growth. Mr Hammond has warned of “turbulence” and “an unprecedented level of uncertainty” as the UK leaves the EU. Labour predicted he would fail to help people on low and middle incomes. The Autumn Statement takes place at about 12:30 GMT, after Prime Minister’s Questions in the Commons. Among the measures to be announced are: Reducing the rate at…
“You’re born of the Word of God and that makes you the Word of God in flesh. Therefore, keep Manifesting the Glory of God and Expressing His righteousness everywhere.” -Rev Chris Oyakhilome D.Sc., D.D (Rhapsody of Realities, 08 November 2016)
Donald Trump will become the 45th US president after a stunning victory over Democrat Hillary Clinton. The Republican nominee’s projected victory came down to a handful of key swing states, despite months of polling that favoured Mrs Clinton. The battlegrounds of Florida, Ohio and North Carolina cleared the way for his Brexit-style upset. Mr Trump’s victory in Wisconsin put him over the 270 out of 538 electoral college votes needed to win the White House. The US president-elect took to the stage at his victory rally in New York and said: “I just received a call from Secretary Clinton. She…
Gareth Southgate has brought Jack Wilshere back into the England squad for the matches against Scotland and Spain. Ahead of Friday’s World Cup qualifier against Scotland, it will be the first time the Arsenal midfielder, currently on loan at Bournemouth, has been included in the squad since the Euro 2016 finals. Burnley’s Michael Keane retains his place while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and West Ham’s Michail Antonio miss out in a 25-man squad which will also stay together for a friendly against Spain on Tuesday, November 15. In an interview with FA TV, Southgate said: “The last few weeks we’ve been looking at as…
The government is to give its official response later to the High Court’s decision that Parliament should vote on the formal process of leaving the EU. Ministers lost their case last week, after arguing they did not need the consent of MPs and peers to make the choice of when to trigger Article 50. Campaigners say that giving Parliament a vote is vital in a democracy. Prime Minister Theresa May will not give the statement to MPs at 15:30 GMT as she is on a trade visit to India. The High Court ruled last Thursday that Parliament should have a…
Ryanair has raised its long-term traffic forecast by 10% and predicts it will be carrying more than 200 million passengers a year by March 2024. The airline said it believed it could deliver profitable growth across Europe “despite the uncertainty of Brexit”. However, the UK’s vote to leave the EU meant that Ryanair had reduced its planned UK growth in 2017 from 12% to about 5%. The news came as Ryanair reported a 7% increase in first-half profits. It made €1.168bn (£1.04bn; $1.29bn) in the April-to-September period, which it described as “a strong first half”. However, it warned: “Weaker air…
The FBI has given Hillary Clinton a huge boost with just hours to go in the US presidential campaign by clearing her of wrongdoing following a new trawl of email material. FBI director James Comey told Congress on Sunday that Mrs Clinton should not face charges over messages found on the computer of disgraced politician Anthony Weiner – the estranged husband of the Democratic candidate’s close aide Huma Abedin. He said the bureau had come to the same conclusion it reached in July, when it ruled that Mrs Clinton was “extremely careless” in handling classified information while Secretary of State, but that…

“[God] is asking me to tell you to go forward in your life; have no fear,” Pastor announces! The BLW President just declared November 2016 to be ‘the Month of Moving Forward’, after reading the inspiring accounts of the Israelites before the Red Sea and Isaac in the land of Gerar in Exodus 14:12-16 and Genesis 26 respectively. As the man of God caused us to stand again with Moses and the children of Israel before a daunting and seemingly impossible obstacle, he said “God’s not looking at the sea like there’s a hindrance; it’s nothing to God!” As the…
