Six people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman’s throat was cut in a Manchester hotel.
Armed police officers are at the Hilton in Deansgate after an attack on the woman inside the hotel.
Witnesses described seeing a woman lying on the ground of a car park “moaning” and in “severe pain”.
Police officers were flagged down by the woman, who was suffering serious injuries to her neck, at 11.10am.
She was treated at the scene for lacerations, with one witness telling the Manchester Evening News she was then taken away to hospital in a wheelchair.
Four men, one woman and a teenager have been arrested and police say enquiries are ongoing.
The men arrested include one aged 20, one aged 24, and two 26-year-olds. Police also arrested a 20-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl.
In some reports, one woman is pictured being led out of the hotel wearing jeans and a white vest top, and gold flip flops, while the other is described as being in “silky pink pyjamas”.
A room is taped off inside the hotel and an area is cordoned off outside.
Greater Manchester Police said the incident is not believed to be terror related or a “random attack”.
Anthony Hilton, who works at a letting agents close to the hotel, said: “One of our colleagues walked past and saw a lady on the floor with what appeared to be her throat slit.
“There must have been 15 undercover and normal police cars out in the street. Police were running to and fro from the car park and the Hilton Hotel.”
Mr Hilton, 32, said she was “well-dressed” and thought she was in her 30s.
Officers were seen speaking with other guests and staff inside the 47-storey Beetham Tower, where the hotel is based.
