VENEZUELANS ARRIVE HOME EMOTIONAL AFTER BEING DEPORTED FROM US – Following an agreement between the two countries to resume repatriation flights of migrants
Nearly 200 Venezuelans arrived home on Monday (March 24) after being deported from the U.S., following an agreement between the two countries to resume repatriation flights of migrants.
According to Venezuelan officials, the 199 Venezuelans arrived in their home country via a Venezuela-operated airliner on early Monday morning from Honduras, where they had originally being deported by U.S. authorities.
The move comes amid a diplomatic spat between the United States and Venezuela over the recent deportation flights of Venezuelan migrants to El Salvador.
Venezuela’s Minister of the Popular Power For Interior, Justice And Peace, Diosdado Cabello, demanded the El Salvador government return the “kidnapped” Venezuelan nationals.
“If anything were to happen to any of those compatriots (Venezuelans) in El Salvador, they are the only ones who will be held responsible for this. We have heard heartbreaking testimonies from relatives, fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, and children of those who are kidnapped in El Salvador, they are all Venezuelans,” Cabello said during a briefing on the tarmac after receiving the 199 returnees.
As part of President Donald Trump’s rapid U.S. deportation programme, hundreds of Venezuelan migrants were recently sent to a prison in El Salvador. The United States said the deportees sent to El Salvador were members of Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua gang.
