TRAIN CRASH IN WALES LEAVES SEVERE CASUALTIES- National Rail says trains may be cancelled or revised due to an incident
The police said two trains collided at low speed in Wales on Monday evening. The authorities said the crash happened near Llanbrynmair, between Shrewsbury and Machynlleth, at about 7.30pm on Monday, leaving one dead and 15 others injured.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said officers were called to the line near Llanbrynmair after reports of “a low-speed train collision involving two trains”.
A joint statement from Network Rail and Transport for Wales said it involved the 6.31pm service from Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth and the 7.09pm service from Machynlleth to Shrewsbury.
National Rail said the “operational incident” meant lines were closed and trains may be cancelled or revised. The police says the cause of the crash is being investigated.
