Iceland coaches Heimir Hallgrimsson and Lars Lagerback heaped praise on their players in the early hours of Tuesday (June 28) shortly after they made history and knocked out England from Euro 2016 in a game that will live long in the memory of Icelanders and the English alike.
Hallgrimsson said the team were still improving and could continue to generate surprises in the tournament.
When the final whistle went in England’s shambolic 2-1 Euro 2016 defeat to Iceland, the man who rose to shake his hand in the other dugout was Iceland’s Swedish coach Lars Lagerback, who was inspired by Hodgson to go into coaching.
