The body of a Scottish man who went missing on his brother’s stag do in Hamburg in February has been found.
Liam Colgan, 29, was last seen on a night out in the German city on 10 February ahead of his brother Eamonn’s wedding, where he was due to be best man.
The Lucie Blackman Trust, a charity which has supported Mr Colgan’s family during his disappearance, confirmed his body had been found in Hamburg’s River Elbe.
Although the body found is yet to be formally identified, Mr Colgan’s driving licence was in a jacket pocket and the clothes were those he was wearing on the night he disappeared.
Alan Pearson, who was among the stag party of 18 people, said Mr Colgan’s disappearance was “completely out of character” and that “nobody realised at the time” he had vanished.
He is understood to have left Hamborger Veermaster bar a few minutes before the rest of the stag party in the early hours of 10 February.
Police were called in after Mr Colgan failed to turn up for activities planned for Saturday afternoon,
His father and brother Eamonn remained in the city to help with the search.
