PUTIN DEPARTS RIYADH FOLLOWING TALKS WITH SAUDI-CROWN PRINCE Putin met with the Prince to discuss oil, Gaza and Ukraine in Riyadh
Russian President Vladimir Putin departed Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, December 6th following hastily arranged meetings with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on oil, Gaza and Ukraine in Riyadh.
The meeting with the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, comes after a fall in oil prices despite a pledge by OPEC+, which groups the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and allies led by Russia, to further cut output to keep the price high.
The trip to Riyadh was Putin’s first face-to-face talks with MbS since October 2019.
Putin’s last visit to the region was in July 2022, when he met Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Iran and he is due to host his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi in Moscow on Thursday, December 7th.
