JEAN-CLAUDE JUNCKER – European Commission President

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said on Friday (January 25) that he was aiming to clinch a trade deal with New Zealand in 2019, and that the level of goodwill in their talks gave him confidence that this is possible.

Informal talks for a trade deal between the 28-nation EU and the Pacific state started in May 2018 and were formally launched the following month

The EU forecasts that ambitious and comprehensive agreements could boost its exports to the two countries by a third in the long term.
