Gas prices LIVE: Warning as NINE energy firms collapse – 1.5M Britons face soaring bills

ALMOST 1.5 million Brits have been left without energy providers, after nine energy firms collapsed due to rising gas prices.

These customers will be transferred to new energy companies such as British Gas and EDF, who charge customers substantially more over a year.

With the annual price gap set to rise to £1,277 from October for an average household, British Gas and EDF are set to be among those charging the most.

This could mean that for many Brits, their energy prices will rise by hundreds of pounds.

There is also fear that more providers could go bust in the coming months.
