CHINA’S NO 2 MILITARY CHIEF VOWS TO DEVELOP TIES WITH US – state that some countries desire to see the world in chaos
China’s second-highest ranking military official, Zhang Youxia, vowed to develop military ties with the United States, but also accused “some countries” of interfering with China’s internal affairs.
China and the U.S. have had no direct military-to-military communications since the Washington-sanctioned former Chinese defence minister, Li Shangfu, was appointed in March.
ZHANG YOUXIA said in his speech that “However some countries desire to see the world in chaos, deliberately create turbulence and interfere in other country’s internal affairs and instigate ‘colour revolutions’. Wherever these countries go, there is no peace. China upholds an objective and impartial position, supports the political settlement of the Ukraine crisis, calls on all parties to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to immediately cease fire and end violence, resume peace talks at an early date, and is willing to continue to play a constructive role in achieving regional security and stability.
Countries should not build their own security at the expense of other countries’ security. Countries should not deliberately provoke other countries on major and sensitive issues. Taiwan is at the core of China’s core interests. The ‘One China’ policy is the consensus of the international community.” China’s biggest annual show of military diplomacy began October 29th without the country’s defence minister, who typically hosts the event.
