The grieving partner of a British mother-of-three who reportedly died after travelling to Turkey for a £3,000 bum lift has warned people to “be aware” of what can happen when they pursue the treatment.

Leah Cambridge, a 29-year-old beautician from Leeds, is said to have died as she underwent the increasingly popular cosmetic surgery at a clinic in the coastal city of Izmir.

The procedure – which reshapes the buttocks by transferring fat from other areas of the body – has become far more common among women seeking to achieve hourglass figures similar to the likes of Kim Kardashian.

It is especially popular in the US and Brazil, and the deaths of dozens of women in Latin America have been put down to synthetic polymers commonly used in the procedure.

Experts say bum lifts carry a risk of serious complications and Ms Cambridge’s partner, Scott Franks, has suggested that the operation she underwent was responsible for her sudden death.

The 31-year-old told The Sun he had been left a “broken man” and now wanted to make sure others knew about the potential implications of going under the knife.

“People need to be aware of situations that can happen with this treatment,” he told the newspaper.

“We are still waiting for answers and are also trying to get a flight to bring Leah home.”

In a series of lengthy tributes on Facebook, Mr Franks claimed that Ms Cambridge was “really early into the operation” when she died.

She was reportedly being treated at Elite Aftercare, which boasts several celebrity clientele on its website – including British reality TV stars Lauren Goodger and Chloe Ferry.

The company claims to provide “a UK standard of care for the duration of your stay at our hospital”.

Mr Franks has said he had planned to marry his partner and was now determined to do “everything possible” to make her and her children proud.

According to a Facebook post written on Tuesday, Mr Cambridge said her body will be returned to the UK “in the next few days”.
