BOLIVIA’S FIRST ZINC PLANT – Bolivia’s government signs deal for $350 mln in financing from China
Bolivia’s government signed a deal for $350 million in financing from the Export–Import Bank of China to build the South American country’s first zinc processing plant.
The 20-year loan from China’s export-import bank will have an interest rate of 2%, according to Bolivia’s mining ministry.
Bolivia last year awarded construction and supervision contracts for the mine to China’s Enfi-Crig consortium and to Chong-qing CISDI Engineering Consulting Co.
Bolivia is among the top 10 zinc producing countries, yielding 490,000 metric tons in 2023, according to the U.S. Geological Service
