Theresa May has raised “deep concerns” over the humanitarian crisis in Yemen with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, following Commons clashes over allegations of British involvement in the kingdom’s conflict. Mohammed bin Salman posed with Theresa May outside 10 Downing Street on Wednesday afternoon ahead of talks between the pair, following lunch with the Queen at Buckingham Palace. As the 32-year-old prince’s car drew up to Downing Street, protesters thronged the vehicle – with one man arrested for throwing an egg during the protest. Others used the hashtag #SaudiPrinceNotWelcome on social media to express their opposition. On Yemen, Downing Street said…

Airbus says 3,700 jobs across Europe will be affected by planned production cuts to its A380 and A400M aircraft. The plane-maker confirmed roles were at risk in France, Germany, the UK and Spain following talks with staff and unions and a series of leaks on its intentions. A spokeswoman for the UK business, which largely focuses on wing production for both aircraft at its Broughton and Filton factories, said it was hoped that compulsory redundancies would be completely avoided. The sites collectively employ 10,000 workers but it is understood up to only 450 roles would be affected by the cutbacks,…

The White House has said that certain countries may be spared planned new trade tariffs in an apparent softening of a policy which has already sparked threats of retaliation. It came as China entered the fray – warning that it would also respond as necessary – following a robust reaction from Europe in recent days to Donald Trump’s plans. Mr Trump said last week that he planned to levy charges of 25% on steel imports and 10% on aluminium in a bid to protect American producers. The decision sparked anxiety on global markets and sent Wall Street shares sliding on…

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) – The Florida House passed a school safety bill Wednesday that includes new restrictions on rifle sales and a program to arm some teachers, sending the measure to the governor for his signature. The vote of 67-50 reflected a mix of Republicans and Democrats in support and opposition. The measure, a response to the shootings at a Parkland high school that left 17 dead, is supported by the victims’ families. Andrew Pollack, who lost his 18-year-old daughter Meadow in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, and Ryan Petty, who lost his 14-year-old daughter Alaina, said…

Theresa May has said Britain can “set an example to the world” in the Brexit negotiations, as she reiterated her call to “get on with” the talks. Facing MPs in the Commons, the Prime Minister said that while there would be “ups and downs” on the horizon, the Government would pay no heed to the “counsels of despair that this simply cannot be done”. But the spectre of perhaps the thorniest issue in the negotiations – the future status of the Northern Ireland border – has reared its head once more. Mrs May’s disclosure that Britain is looking at the…

Energy suppliers are to be banned from back-billing customers for gas and electricity used more than 12 months ago under new rules from Ofgem. Such charges, on average totalling £1,160 but in extreme cases more than £10,000, can arise due to problems with a supplier’s billing systems or incorrect usage estimates, the regulator said. The new rules will come into effect in May for household consumers and in November for the smallest businesses. Suppliers would still be able to recoup the money beyond the 12-month period if customers have behaved unreasonably, such as by blocking access for meter readings. Rob…

Florida’s Republican-controlled Senate has taken tentative steps towards gun control following the recent high school massacre in the state. Lawmakers backed – by 20 votes to 18 – a three-day waiting period for any gun purchase and the raising of the legal purchase age to 21. A person in Florida already has to be 21 to buy a handgun but that restriction, if the laws are also accepted by the state’s House of Representatives, would extend to other guns such as rifles. The news comes just weeks after 14 students and three staff were shot dead at Marjory Stoneman Douglas…

Homes and businesses affected are having to use bottled water while work continues to fix leaks and repair burst pipes following a thaw in temperatures after last week’s cold weather. In the Commons, Thames Water was criticised for failing to contact residents and tell them how they could collect bottles of water. Labour’s Chuka Umunna, who represents Streatham, said he was “astounded” at the lack of a Government statement on the issue, adding that “at the very least” there should be “some kind of public inquiry”. Raising a point of order, Mr Umunna said: “Over the last few years there…

The head of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) has warned a trade war sparked by US President Donald Trump would plunge the world into “deep recession”. Roberto Azevedo used remarks in Geneva to appeal for calm, saying member states must stop “the fall of the first dominoes” – hours after the European Union said it was preparing a “decisive” response to plans that, Mr Trump hopes, will bolster US competitiveness. He prompted fury among major US trading partners worldwide last week when he announced proposals for 25% tariffs on steel products and 10% on aluminium. His administration has since made…

“Throughout this month, walk in boldness, walk in glory, walk in victory!” — Pastor Chris A super-charged sermon on the legal and vital realities of life in Christ preceded the declaration of the Word of the Spirit for March 2018, ‘the Month of Dominion’! Prior to the announcement of the word for the month, the BLW President, Reverend (Dr.) Chris Oyakhilome, said concerning the month, “our thinking is different, and we’re going to do mighty things!” Further explaining the inspiration of the Spirit, the man of God quoted the Lord Jesus saying prophetically, “you’re going to walk upon serpents and…
