HSBC said it would be increasing returns on fixed-rate accounts and Isas, and offered a reminder that last week it increased interest on some instant access accounts. U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has issued new instructions for how military personnel and contractors are allowed to handle classified information after sensitive military planning documents were recently leaked online. A High Street bank has blocked a gender-critical parents group from opening a new account amid a row over its political views. Metro Bank refused to open a new business account for Our Duty, a group of more than 2,000 parents who believe that it is harmful for transgender children to undergo a medical transition.
