Lawyer and former prosecutor Sidney Powell alleged false claims in the indictment against former President Donald Trump in Georgia. Domestic abusers leaving prison will have to wear electronic monitoring tags in a move that the government says will offer better protection to victims. Under a pilot scheme launching in the east and West Midlands, and expected to be rolled out across England and Wales next year, any offender who poses a threat to a former partner or their children will be banned from going within a certain distance of a victim’s home and/or subject to a curfew. Direct Line will pay about £30m to customers who were charged more than they should have been to renew car and home insurance policies.
