Trump blasts Biden over Hamas attack on Israel during campaign rally Former U.S. president Donald Trump blasted President Joe Biden during a campaign event saying “America’s enemies” were taking advantage of Biden’s administration. Trump’s comments came as he was weighing in on the deadly attacks on Israel by Palestinian Hamas militants over the weekend that killed thousands. The former president said the attacks were linked to Biden loosening Trump’s sanctions on Iran which allowed the country “to sell massive amounts of oil.” Iran backs groups in the Middle East region including Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Trump praised his administration’s fight…

FOREIGN MINISTER ARRIVES IN ISRAEL –  James Cleverly in Israel to ‘show solidarity to Israeli people’ James Cleverly has touched down in Israel to show solidarity with the country as it suffers almost unprecedented levels of terrorist attacks from the Palestinian Hamas group. With Israel’s defence forces counter-attacking in Gaza City, the arrival of Mr Cleverly, the first major Western politician to come to Israel since the attacks were launched over the weekend, provides a strong sign of support for Benjamin Netanyahu’s government. It follows concerns being raised about Labour’s Shadow Foreign Secretary David Lammy attending a Labour Friends of…

Howard Webb has acknowledged “disappointment” from Professional Game Match Officials Ltd at the unprecedented errors that led to the video assistant referee (VAR) system denying Liverpool a legitimate goal against Tottenham 10 days ago. The head of the refereeing body said the International Football Association Board (Ifab) should consider adapting the rules of the game to create a window of time for reversing similarly egregious mistakes. Webb suggested Darren England, who was the VAR at Tottenham that day, had gone through his checking process too quickly before accidentally confirming an incorrect offside decision against Luis Díaz. The Bank of England will need to keep interest rates high into 2024 as the UK struggles with a combination of weaker growth and persistent inflation, the International Monetary Fund has warned. In its half-yearly update on the global economy, the IMF said growth had already slowed “fairly sharply” and painted a downbeat picture for the government as it enters what will almost certainly be an election year. “The general perspective is for fairly subdued growth and falling momentum,” said Pierre-Olivier Gourinchas, the IMF’s economic counsellor, at a press conference in Marrakech, Morocco, to launch the World Economic Outlook (WEO). “The labour…
