British Airways (BA) pilots began a 48-hour strike on Monday, grounding nearly all its flights and disrupting the plans of thousands of travellers in unprecedented industrial action over a pay dispute. British lawmakers are preparing legal action in case Prime Minister Boris Johnson tries to defy legislation compelling him to seek a further delay to Brexit. An opposition bill which would force Johnson to ask the European Union for an extension to Britain’s departure to avoid an October 31 exit without a transition deal was approved by parliament’s appointed upper chamber, the House of Lords, on Friday and Queen Elizabeth is expected to sign it into law on Monday. More than 200 migrants were rescued by the Spanish coast guard as they attempted to make the crossing from Africa to Spain, rescue services said. The rescue comes at a time when Spain is preparing for the arrival on a Spanish warship of 15 migrants from an Italian port following a prolonged standoff between Italian authorities and a Spanish-registered private rescue boat. On Thursday, the coastguard said the migrants from Sub-Saharan Africa were found in three rafts in the Alboran Sea, between northeastern Morocco and southeastern Spain on Wednesday afternoon.
