As Gareth Southgate names England’s World Cup squad on Thursday, Antonio Conte has warned that Harry Kane is so fatigued he had to stop training to rest on the eve of Tottenham’s Carabao Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest. The Spurs manager played the England captain for the first hour of a tired performance on a night when Jesse Lingard posted a reminder that he can help Forest continue their resurgence. Conte said he had no alternative but to field Kane, who is not injured, as he had no other fit strikers and praised a selfless attitude that Southgate, the England manager,…

Gavin Williamson dramatically quit Rishi Sunak’s cabinet on Tuesday night after the Guardian revealed claims that he told a senior civil servant to “slit your throat” while he was defence secretary. The Cabinet Office minister stepped down after the former Whitehall aide put in a formal complaint to parliament’s Independent Complaints and Grievance Scheme (ICGS), piling more pressure on Sunak over his decision to reappoint his ally. Williamson’s fate appeared to be sealed after further bullying allegations from his former deputy chief whip, who criticised his “unethical and immoral” behaviour and claimed he used “leverage” and threats to control MPs and instil…

CEO Musk sold 19.5 million shares of the electric vehicle maker, worth $3.95 billion, from Nov. 4 to Nov. 8, the filings show. The share sell-off comes after Musk took over social media platform Twitter in a $44 billion deal last month. Musk sold $8.4 billion in shares in April, and at the time wrote on Twitter that there were “no further TSLA sales planned after today.” However, in August, he sold just under $7 billion of his Tesla stock to help fund the Twitter purchase, along with financing from…

Reece James has been left devastated after Gareth Southgate told Chelsea’s injured right-back that he will not be named in England’s World Cup squad. James has been pushing to recover for Qatar since sustaining a knee ligament injury against Milan last month. He was confident of being available for the knockout stages but Southgate has decided that he cannot gamble on the defender’s fitness. England’s opening game against Iran is on 21 November and there have been indications that James will not be fit until December. It is another huge blow for England’s manager, who has lost the Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell to a torn…

Former President Donald Trump has appealed a judge’s order that restricts the Trump Organization from certain activities, and places it under supervision of a court monitor to oversee compliance with the order. Trump’s attorneys on Monday filed a notice of appeal in the New York courts. Alina Habba, a lawyer for Trump, said the legal team had asked the mid-level state appellate court to halt the order from New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron. “The preliminary injunction imposed by the court is overly broad, overreaching, and unenforceable on its face,” Habba said in a statement, multiple outlets reported. “We trust that the Appellate…

U.S. President Joe Biden’s public approval rating dipped to 39% in a Reuters/Ipsos poll on Monday, reinforcing nonpartisan election forecasters’ expectations that his Democratic party was in for a drubbing in Tuesday’s midterm elections. The two-day national poll found that Americans’ approval of Biden’s job performance had dropped by one point, nearing the lowest point of his presidency. Biden’s unpopularity is helping drive the view that Republicans will win control of the U.S. House of Representatives and possibly the U.S. Senate as well on Tuesday. The University of Virginia’s Center for Politics on Monday forecast that Republicans would easily win a…
