Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane were on the scoresheet in a 2-0 win for Al Nassr away to Al Wehda in the Saudi Pro League. The Portuguese skipper headed in the opener just after halftime with his 17th goal of the current league campaign which sees Ronaldo overtake former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema in the race for the golden boot.
The 40-year-old five-time Ballon d’Or winner is now just 75 short of amassing a tally of 1,000 official goals across his career. Senegal’s Sadio Mane would add a second from the penalty spot deep into added time to wrap up the three points for the visitors after an Al Wehda defender was adjudged to have blocked a Ronaldo free kick with his elbow.
The victory moves Al Nassr up to third in the table with 47 points, ahead of Al Qadsiah, who lost 4-1 against Al Ahli, on goal difference. Al Wehda, meanwhile, sit rock bottom of the league with 13 points.
