SOUTH KOREA PARLIAMENT SUBMIT SECOND MOTION TO IMPEACH PRESIDENT YOON- The second Impeachment vote will take place on 14 Dec
South Korea’s Parliament has formally submitted a second impeachment motion against President Yoon Suk Yeol today (December 13) after the first attempt to unseat and remove him from office failed.
Opposition parties, which control the single-chamber parliament, plan to hold the second impeachment vote at 08:00 GMT on Saturday (December 14) as the first impeachment vote failed as a result of boycotting by the ruling party.
A vote to impeach Yoon would send the case to the Constitutional Court, which has up to six months to decide whether to remove Yoon from office or reinstate him.
The president is separately under a criminal probe for alleged insurrection over the December 3 martial law declaration, which he rescinded hours later, sparking the biggest political crisis in South Korea in decades.
