CHINA REFUSES TO COMMENT ON SOUTH KOREA’S POLITICAL CHAOS – China says country’s situation is an internal matter
China refused to take a position on neighbouring South Korea’s political crisis, saying the country’s situation is an internal matter.
Speaking to reporters at a regular press briefing, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said China “will not comment” on South Korea’s “domestic affairs”.
“China’s position on the Korean peninsula issue has not changed,” said Lin, in response to a question on the overall stability of the peninsula.
South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial law on Tuesday (December 3) before reversing the decision hours later following a parliamentary vote.
The incident sparked a political crisis in the country, which is Asia’s fourth-largest economy, and South Korean MPs on Wednesday proposed impeaching Yoon for his sudden decision.
