STARMER SAYS UK STANDS WITH ISRAEL AFTER MISSILE ATTACK – More than 200 missiles were launched into Israel from Iran
Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the UK stands with Israel after Iran launched a wave of missiles in retaliation for Israel’s incursion into Lebanon.
Earlier on Tuesday, Iran fired ballistic missiles at Israel, drawing vows of a sharp response from both Israel and the United States.
A spokesperson for Starmer’s office said the prime minister spoke with his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday afternoon, and the leaders discussed the escalating situation across the Middle East.
More than 200 missiles were launched into Israel from Iran and Israeli air defences were activated to intercept them. U.S. Navy warships fired about a dozen interceptors against Iranian missiles headed toward Israel, the Pentagon said.
Starmer also spoke with Jordan’s King Abdullah, and they underscored the urgent need for a ceasefire in both Lebanon and Gaza.
